v6 in chassis

hi there not been on in a while so hi again and thanks to all that have helped so far
dose anyone know how i am going to fit my 2.9 v6 to my chassis or have done it with a few tips any help wanted
secondly 4x4 system from gear box to wheel diy guide (lol) i was thinking of engine to a type 9 rear wheel set up but if 4x4 is poss help needed to
ps. have 7 chassis on way and sierra stripped

which chassis are you using ?

its been done before in a handful of locosts and dax's as far as I know

the dax version moves the front diff forwards (to bring it in line with the front axle obviously) usign a custom made 2 part prop. and the tunnel is made quite a bit bigger on the right hand side so its got somewhere to go!
they also mod the front driveshafts (not sure how exactly) to make them suitable.
The V6 itself isn't a big problem in the dax as the engine bay is 'just' big enough


only thing to add is that the 4x4 setup is heavy (extra ~150kg i was told) and it drains alot more power too

yeah thanks will look into stuff
chassis is locost
and am sure dax chassis is only couple inches bigger so may add bits to acumplish
as for the 4x4 heavy issue didnt realise was so heavy 150 kg is alot so may leave and opt for type 9 any idea on best setup for gearbox diff in terms of ratios and such

I fitted the V6 from the XR4X4, and did have ideas of going four wheel drive but found the problems involved just to much, so in the end just went for rear wheel drive. In a way I am glad I did as I have since fitted a 3.14 diff, and this would not have been possable if I had gone 4WD, as the front diff is only available in 3.62. Loads of pictures in my photo archive, and as you will see I eventually fitted the BOA Cosworth V6. HTH Ray

Have a look in my photo archive for some 4x4 pics. It's more like an extra 50 kg for the front diff, driveshafts, prop and heavier gearbox.

mate want use Maserati biturbo engine, but is very wide

and to think that the orifinal Lotus & used a ~Tiny Ford sidevalve, whilst the Exotic version featured a Coventry Climax rated at 75hp.
Someone's lost sight of the goalposts?

Do you ever post something positive ?

Locost builders is all about doing something yourself, and/or doing something a bit different, scratch built cars!

We do not then have goal posts, neither do car manufactures or we would all still be driving ford populars or watching water pumps.

I love the idea of a v6. Think i would probably go for an Alfa. You would need to tune a 2.9 v6 to extract decent power to weight from it.
