Understeer / Oversteer at corner entry, corrner exit and every point in between.

Probably not the quickest way, but when the other guy has a 911 that's going to annihilate you on the long straight, he's more than forgiven for overdriving the twisty bits to make sure he's as far ahead as possible going onto the straights.

Highly entertaining

yes, 2.12 would have been enough to convince me to take the rest of the lap more sedately and have a quiet sit down with a nice cup of tea

Love the bit in the middle.
First he blows off the Porker for the second time, then he's that laid back about it, that he has a little go at drifting.

interesting, thats not quite how i see it. as i see it, he's all over the place, the porsche is a lot more planted, and in fact the porsche takes it easy round the corners, and blows him away on straight line speed on the streets.

with all the under and over steer, i don't see the porsche losing it once. would be good to see an onboard shot from the other car though

as for 'having a go at drifting' i don't actually think he meant to do it personally. especially when you look at 4.04, looks to have taken him by surprise a little. i don't know, you may be right, but thats my thoughts anyway

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Thanks jeffw

blake82 - I agree - the porsche was a lot more secure and I know which car would have reduced my dry-cleaning costs.

The GD was a much more refined drive - it seemed far less at 10/10ths than the caterham drive. Without knowing the man, I can't speculate why but the GD470 seemed way more planted (heavier for sure - maybe that's why, but the GD cars are respected for excellent engineering).

There was a bit at about 6:30 where the car proved it gets out of shape climbing the curbs - quite a slide he controlled.

And near the end I liked the way he overhauled a yellow porsche at 186+ mph.

Watched now. Great vid.
He was certainly pushing on. We all know how lively and quick round the twisty stuff the r500 is after watching Stiggy thrash it around on Top Gear.

Yup - and there was a bit right at the end when he eclipsed a yellow porsche with the needle on the stop - probably nearer 200 by then.

I would say watching both, that he had adapted his style to ring the guts out of that caterham, and achieved a great time in the GD. saying that, 7:32 around the ring is a stunning time. now matter how you drive, you obviously can to get a time like that.

It is the uphill section after Bergwerck upto the Karrussel that is the most impressive plus the big save at Wippermann.

They where also running the motor in so where restricted to 6500rpm
