Reverse on Sylva ZX12R

Hello,
my friend looking for install a reverse gear in his sylva powered by ZX-12R engine.
i have checked his chassis but there is very little space.
Less then 6 inch around rear diff flange (<3" radius).

while near front output flange, the space is less... about <1 inch between flange and water pump or chassis..

some one has installed reverse gear on this car?
in your opinion it's possible to do?

thanks

Reverse

Hi
If you don't have the room for an electric one.
The only other option is a reversing box & 2 propshafts.
Not cheap but better than electric (only my opinion)
Good luck
René

I along with many others have used a VAG starter motor and a spur gear fitted to the diff flange.
Most use Sierra running gear, but it would be possible to adapt to other types. I should say that this system will not
get you very far reversing up a slope. Some info in my photo archive.

5.5 inches I had to form a slight bulge in the side panel for the motor bracket.

HPC Gears http://www.hpcgears.com/newpdf/spurgears_12dp.pdf you need the G12-64 machined to this drawing:

This is for Ford Sierra running gear.
