Elvington Track Day

Just provisionally booked a place on the Book A Track Track Day at Elvington on 2nd october.
Is this a good venue for my fist proper track day?
Booked 20 minute instructor session also, are they worth it?

cheers

Jim

Hi Jim - good to meet you yesterday - I gather from other people who have done track days at Elvington (although I haven't yet gone myself) that it is quite good as there are large run off areas for when it all goes wrong!

I have had some instruction on tracks (Croft and Brands Hatch) it helps a lot with getting the best lines around corners etc. but more importantly should help with the safety aspects!

Good Luck

Mark

Cheers Mark,

good to meet you aswell. nice to see somebody racing Indy's at Harewood. was going to do it in my Indy blade but they hate bike engined cars, putting them in strange classes

Might have some pictures of your car from Harewood yesterday. Will have to see if any have come out OK.

Do I need a quick rack? Still undecided.

Jim

I don't have a quick rack and I found it hard going. Correcting oversteer was too frantic with not enough steering happening for a full turn of the wheel!

A quick rack is second on my shopping list behind curing my misfire!!!

Third is a windscreen and wipers so I can stay in the Kit Car class - I got bumped into an unlimited class on the day

Fourth is more power - A LOT OF IT

You'll enjoy Elvington, I've done quite a few this venue.

You can learn to use you car without worrying about hitting anything and when it rains, even better it's a whole new experience.

If you have some cheap wheels and tyres use them, it can be very hard on the tyres when dry.

I'll try and get down to see you.

All the best,

Andy

I'll be there.
My first track day as well - although I'm only a Pinto boy!
