Type 9 - no 5th gear

Hi all,

I was cruising yesterday in 5th at 3K rpm and suddenly revs go to the sky. I tryied to select 5th again, the lever went in the position but it was like it was in neutral with some hissing noise.

All other 4 gears and reverse work OK.

Any ideas??

Many thanks!

Sorry I don't know what I was thinking. It's a type 9!

Thanks.

Loggyboy, Type 9's are 5 speed plus if you were in 5th how could it possibly be a 4 speed.

Nitrogeno25, Sounds like something has catastrophically failed. Looks like further investigation required. When I lost 2nd it was a sinple circlip failure but it was a total strip to replace it.

His original post said it was a type 5! And I assumed he was mistaken, or in 3rd!!

Yes, my original post said type 5 by mistake.

Back to the gearbox, I've been told that the 5th gear needs adjustment from the right side of the box?
