The eagle eyed amongst you will spot the hard top it came with. Rest assured that even with 6 month's MOT and tax, it was still at a Zil price. Drive's like a dream.

Now.

Where are all you MX5 nancy boys ?

(Actually, I think we have more in common than anyone would care to admit.)

Let me start the Zilprice speculation.......... £12.98 + packet of black currant chewits? And maybe you had to do timing belt and give it a super whopping £31.52 full service.

Looks like good fun car. Well done.

Darren.

You misjudge me Sir.

I paid good money for this.

6 months T&T, MLS headgasket, leather interior, hard top, VVC engine.

£600 of your earth quids.

On a more Zil like planet, I got a quote of £404 from a VW dealer to repair my Passat last week.
I did it for precisely zero pounds, some of my time, and some servisol nicked from my mate's toolbox.

My word! Did England just get stuffed at Rugby, prompting a Scot celebration?,!!!!!

Still a bargain in anyone's books. Very well done.

Is it fair to assume you may have been distracted by a shiny new 10 bob piece hidden behind the drivers side seat runner? Their wise you might have stuck out for a deal at £575?

600 is an unbelievable bargain, I'm jealous of that.

If it does not have a head gasket problem, then why the MLS gasket ? as it was changed at some point, and probaly two weeks ago

Steve

17 year old car, 136,000 miles, 3 owners. Hardly the type of thing that's been such a basket case that everyone moved it on to the next mug who then sat it in his garage to he got over the trauma.

Head gasket done 2 years ago. I'm not unhappy about that.
The seller was an MGOC member in his 60s, bloke with an MGB and a beard.
He sold it with decent MOT, decent tax and insisted on pointing out the defects.

The type of bloke you'd like to buy a car from.

By the time I'd sold the hard top for £250, the remaining car looks a fair deal at £350 (with 6 months t&t).

Sounds great. People are always asking me why I prefer to buy my cars at that price level (I don't have to I had a brand new car from 09 till last year) then the next thing they're telling me is they're paying out for work that cost more than my car. Enjoy it, I really wanted one but after the hassle I had with the Eunos, I doubt I will any time soon.

Hence my description of the interior.
Personally, I feel it would be churlish to complain.

Major update !!!

Err, nothing to report.

I drive it whenever I can, usually top down, and so far it has suffered precisely zero mechanical failures.
I give it the beans whenever I can. 7,250rpm in 2nd gear is a hoot.

As we speak, it could do with an OSF drop link.

£15 on eBay.
Other than that, I scored a free set of alloys with good tyres a couple of weeks ago,

It's a white knuckle ride, I tell you,

Another non update in 6 months time

Another major update.

Put it in for an MOT yesterday.

It passed.

Total spend to date, £10.95 for a drop link. (Found it cheaper)

But, I was given a tonneau cover which I sold for £46, so total spend is actually -£35.

It's a drama every day, I'll tell you.

And it's gone.

Sold last week for £580.

The head gasket was still fine, nothing had broken.

It's been replaced by a 2003 TF135.
