Squeaking noise... Help!!
Not the kind of first post I would have wanted but after 100 miles of buying a fury I've got some problems...
I'm getting a ryhmic squeaking, about twice a second when the car is in gear...
It's a 2l zetec silvertop mated to a type 9 from a mk2 escort.
The noise goes away when the clutch pedal is down and I'm getting some clutch smell too...
The clutch seems to engage cleanly with no slip and the sound is more of a squeak than a squeal...
I've no no experience with ford stuff but I was thinking maybe the release bearing?
I've asked the Internet and found nothing about similar problems...
Im guessing with the depth of knowledge on this forum someone might be able to help... Any ideas?
I've only just bought the thing and while I knew I would have to tinker I really would have liked to get a few hundred miles on it first without
having to pull the engine...
Thanks
Ben

Cable clutch...
I thought I heard a similar sound on an earlier drive... But it was faint and went away...
This time I drove the 3 mile to my local climbing center... No issues, no noises...
3 hours later I get back in it and the squeak is there... Much louder than before...
I need to have a play with it but I did replicate it with the clutch down at some lights by reving... But that didn't work when I got home...
Not sure if I was in gear that time tho... As I said I need to have a play...
