I seem to remember on my r1 westfield the 5pw has a coolant operated waxstat that operated the fast idle from cold so maybe a problem with that.

You the man!! I went to inspect the stat and noticed the wires on one of the coolant sensors was broken and the other one was nearly sheared! Fixed both wires and it stats on the button now. It also cured my ongoing problem of the revs rising randomly at idle

Cheers
