Kidderminster VOSA Test Station – any opinions?

Hopefully within the next 2/3 weeks my MK Indy R build will be finished! I'm thinking it might be a good idea to book my IVA test now, as I've read elsewhere that the wait can be a month or so.

Will be frustrating if I can't drive her this summer if I'm waiting on VOSA and DVLA for months!

I live near Ludlow in Shropshire so my nearest test station is Kidderminster, does anyone have any experience of this test centre? I've heard that Shrewsbury is very strict so I'll be avoiding there! Or if there is somewhere else better nearby, I'd appreciate feedback.

Cheers,

Ben

I used Shrewsbury for SVA , but obviously that was a good while ago! They were fair back then with me.

Yes, Keith at Kidderminster tested my Locost - and failed it! Gotta re-test in June, to give me time to make the necessary mods/adjusments/fixes. I reckon Keith is pretty good, but his test guidelines don't give him any leeway, so it all has to be right. Make sure there are no contactable sharp edges - anywhere.

Still waiting for my re-calibrated Smiths speedo. Chasing that up now.

Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

Thanks for the input all. Re-test in June?! Looks like I'll definitely be waiting a month then, dammit. At least it'll give me time to hopefully make sure it's fail-proof (touch wood)...

I actually decided to go with Nottingham in the end. That's where MK take all of their cars, so the guys there have a good understanding of the Indy's. It's a bigger journey but will be worth it.

The frustrating bit is even when you send off your application forms, it takes VOSA 2-3 weeks to get around to sending on to the test centre, and then there's currently another 4 week wait at Notts for the test.

I sent my application off 2 weeks ago, so will hopefully get the phone call this week with my test date! Fingers crossed it'll be within June.
