Locost replacement
For domestic reasons (refusal to ride in the car by some member of the household!!) have sold Locost and need something a bit more boring (windscreen,
heater, doors etc). Any experience/comments on the Reliant Scimitar SS100. Maybe an MX5 but they seem a bit rusty.

What sort of budget do you have in mind ?

Go for the mx5 mk1 and fit the 250 tribute soft top kit

I had. A SS1 and a SST! Mine were the 1.4 as I was young at the time! Good handling - make sure you get a galvanised chassis though. The only way to
tell is if the car has only 1 wiper! The 1.4 was a bit gutless, never drove a 1.6, but the 1.8ti was quick! Hoods leak like a truimph spitfire, no
surprise as they are a similar design, but there is a decent sized boot. Hope this helps!

Surly a forced change in car incurs the fine of increased budget allowance to satisfy all requirements!!
I would be considering an lotus elese myself.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

My vote is for an MX5 or grey import Eunos.
Had the same problem with SWMBO and the F27.
She was always a reluctant passenger but can't keep her out of the Eunos.
Must be something to do with it having a heater and windscreen!
Plenty around, rust free ones if you look hard enough, cheap as chips to run and excellent spares availability
And if you think you'll miss the performance of a Se7en then super- or Turbocharged cars available for a few grand - ask me how I know.

If your considering an MX5 then how about an MGF or MR2? I've not owned either but I'd like to. I have owned a eunos roadster and it was
an alright car to live with, and great fun in the right conditions.

SS1 is very underrated - mainly due to the panel gaps and body design - but once you try one, they're addictive due mainly to the fantastic
chassis. Nissan turbo version is an mx5 eater, CVH is a B road blaster, K series is the most refined. Depending on budget, there's the later SST
and Sabres (mk1 & mk2) to consider. Mk2 Sabres are almost all 1.4 K series. All very locost orientated - RWD CVH or 1.4K with type 9 & Sierra

If on a budget, an old rusty MX5 is what you need. They're plentiful, cheap, incredibly reliable and are hoot on a trackday (especially on a
bumpy track, boiiiinnnnggg). Buy one with a long MoT, abuse it for a year and then turn it into a MEVthing?
