Thinking about an engine change?

Hi
After 6 years with a pinto I'm thinking of an engine change
I'm staying with a car engine so bec is not an option
Some time ago I bought a red top so that is one option but
been thinking of a s2000 instead
So I'm after some info how tall is the s2000 compared to the
pinto and I want to try and run it on the original ecu ,is there
any problems with this
Also I'm trying to add up the cost of the conversion
Sure there is going to be a lot more questions but that will do for a start
Cheers

The F20c engine is quite tall but just fits under my bonnet which has a power bulge.

You can run it on the standard ECU but you will require the transponder and various harnesses from the donor car.

I run mine on Omex 710 ECU, it has the added advantage of being able to set the vtec at a lower RPM, I have it set @ 4500.

If your thinking of using the standard gearbox the bell housing is big not sure how big the tranny tunnel is on a Locost.

Overall though its a cracking engine which I think perfectly suits a 7.

S2000 great choice, if you keep the engine standard you can run all standard ecu and standard loom. I bought a full car (ap2) and broke it for about what I paid, so lots of work, but can help the budget. Trimming the loom was a lot of work, but I did go to town on it.

Well the S2000 F20c engine IS inordinately tall and weighs in at 148kg.. bare..
Add on niceties like a starter Alternator and manifolds and it's no featherweight.
Compare it to a Busa engine of 1.4 l / 190+ hp at 68KG.. WITH.. trans... Much higher rev limit too, If that appeals.
Old cross flows were ~150 lbs. Yup.. from a Cast iron everything engine.
Food for thought.

A bare F20C engine weighs a lot more than 100kg... 148kg seems to be the most quoted figure for one.

An engine with anillaries and gearbox (no exhaust manifold) is 210kg.
