A BDA will make close to the power output of a 2008 hayabusa but with more torque, and will be quicker in a locost.
That applies to a tuned hayabusa as well, we have seen 230bhp out of a hayabusa but only 120lb/ft tq very high up.

A BDA will make 180-200bhp with 160lb/ft from much lower rpm, therefore it's quicker in the car.

In fairness, assuming it was given as a slightly light heart comment, its largely factually correct to say that over time engines have been developed and improved, and that the hiyabusa is a good example of a further developed engine. And that people tend not to recall the bad aspects when getting nostalgic about stuff. That said, the posts from said user seem to be getting a bit repetitive!

Basic physics says that Power = Torque * Rpm, so with the right gearbox/axle ratio, more power is more power, and the torque and rpm figures all cancel out.

The only caveat to that, is that the shape of the power curve is also very important in terms of acceleration and non-steady-state conditions, as because there is a limit to the number of gears you have, and changing between them takes time, the wider the powerband the better the power you can get out down onto the ground. Unless you some form of cvt or similar.

plus its a 691 block, so not as good as the 711

;-) can you tell i'm not a big fan of BEC, only driven one but i cause see the lack of low end power and the amount of revs required to pull off normally would get annoying after a bit.

Personally i have never tuned a BDA, but my engine builder had built a few and tells me they are a very good engine even by modern standards - he quoted a few power examples of engines he has done in the 1980s....

BDA 1500cc 150BHP
BDA 1600cc 180BHP
BDA 1700cc 215BHP
BDA 2000cc 280BHP on EFI

Sometimes power output numbers do not tell the whole story, the fastest locost i drove was a mildly tuned rover 3.9, not much more that 200BHP but mega quick!
