Amount of Oil Type 9

Hi All,

It is my understanding that the original oil quantity in the T9 was 1.9Lts.

Due to oil leaks Ford reduced the amount required to 1.2 Lts - I read on here somewhere, is this correct?

I have fitted the box so the easiest is to pump out the excess, I know how much is in there so if you can confirm the 1.2 or otherwise,I'll get pumping out.

Thanks in advance

Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

I have been using one of these everytime i drain it and check it at the end of a season, Steve Perks Semi Helicol Type 9 5 Speed, the oil level has been fine and its run for 5 years without any re-builds and 300bhp + 212lbft going through it.

1 Quart = 1 136.5ml as per google search

Hope this helps

you fill the box with the fill/leval plug out on the side and when it dribbles out put the plug back in

4x4 boxes take more oil and all type9's like the right oil and iirc its 75w-90 semi GL4 or fords own red oil (not mt75 stuff)
