MK indy R with "real" quick rack

Following this thread http://locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=187189

i'm interested to have a real quick rack on my indy, because i think it will be one of the best mods to have more fun (and to put indy in the level of westy..)

now i have the standard indy quick rack 2.8, is there someone that mounted an escort steering rack 2.2 or 2.4 on his indy?

what modifications i have to do? is there a plug&play kit?
another solution?

i search on past threads, but there isn't anything sure.

thanks

His is a Sierra rack, not Escort.

In my opinion it would be a waste of money, unless of course you use your vehicle for autotests. I doubt you'd even notice the difference of 0.6 in any other type of motorsport.

I'd have to disagree, have you seen the mountain roads he drives with lots of hairpins? 2.8 is too slow for a BEC on those sort of roads IMHO. Have you seen the vid?

Yep, I've seen the video. First time when it was posted and again just now to look at the steering inputs. The tightest corner of the entire drive required almost one full turn to the right and there was only one of those at 11:40.

The majority of the bends needed less than 0.75 of a turn. You'd not even notice a reduction in ratios from 2.8 to 2.2 driving on that road or indeed most tracks.

You think it looks Ok, I thought it looked like he was driving a bus. But neither matters as it's up to him as he's the one driving it, and he feels it's not right. I think he'd notice a big difference from 2.8 to 2.2, but maybe others could tell us if they noticed a difference and if it was worth the effort?

He's looking to swap to an Escort rack as the Sierra ones don't appear to go below 2.8.

Have a look at this thread regarding ratios. Some useful info.

i drove for 4000 km with my old fury r1 with 2.2 on the road, it's another world, very fast and i loved it.

now it's very slow, and i have to disagree with the opinion that "nothing changes betwen 2.4 and 2.8 "
