Sides, DRLs and Dip Beam

Ok I am looking for a second opinion on my interpretation of the IVA rules. All cars now must have daytime running lights, on my car these are the same as my side lights, albeit the side light function can be switched on/off with the ignition turned off. Otherwise while the car is running, they are on all the time.

I am now wondering if I can get away with just 1 switch to control side lights and dip beam. With ignition off, this switch will be wired to turn on/off side lights only. With the ignition turned on, this switch will be wired to turn on/off dip beam only.

Will this pass IVA?

PS - Looking at the Caterham R500 dash, it only has 2 switches. One of which is full beam, the other I assume to be sides/dip.

I thought it wasn't a requirement for kitcars to have DRLs??

DLRs are only required for type approved/production cars. You can fit them, but you dont have to.
IIRC if you do fit them they should extinguish when the dipped lights are on.
If you are using DLRs as sidelights then they are technically not DLRs, just sidelights!

Happy days, I didn't spot that in the manual. And I have just had clarification that the Caterham switch controls both side and dip.
