I know the weight of the MX5 engine!

I saw a topic on the front page earlier with the title "Does anyone know the weight of the MX5 engine?"
Because it's in the for sale section and I haven't contributed I can't see it...

But seeing as how my engine is currently dangling from a crane and my wife has just bought some new bathroom scales I thought I may as well find out

The answer is: 120kg

That's for a Mk1 1.6 as it came out of my chassis - still full of oil and with everything except the exhaust manifold still bolted to it.

No idea if it answers the other topic or not, but it was interesting to find out anyway

"Does anyone know the weight of the MX5 engine?

Hi,
I'm just after more info for the conversion on a MX5. Does anyone know the weight of a 1.6 or 1.8 engine without auxiliaries or the engine bare? I've seen the KLDE engine weighs 112kg bare so I want to keep track of the difference.
I don't have the MX5 yet, sore subject ..... I'm extending my garage first, I want it to be a more comfortable working environment first as I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time in there.

Is this a TRADE ADVERTISEMENT?? Click HERE to report it!"

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Thanks for that - was curious to see what the question was!
I didn't quite answer it then. Oh well!
