Am I missing something?
Call me jaundiced, but isn't it odd that Ecclestone is up on a Bribery charge (i.e. offering money for his own gain), is offering to pay a
settlement (see i.e. above) to close the court case whcih could have seen him go to Jail without passing go??

No, you are not missing something (this probability was discussed on here before), but apparently in some continental courts, it perfectly OK to buy
your way out of a guilty charge for Bribery and Corruption by making massive reparations into court (A.K.A. another bribe).
