Cleaning VHT paint from stainless manifold

I've a stainless steel manifold which has been sprayed with VHT paint.

I've tried wire wool, then wire wool dipped in thinners, but not really any success.

Any ideas? I was thinking of Nitromors, but I've never used it on stainless?

Nitro is safe on wood so cant see it damaging stainless. However nitros osnt that strong anymore. Starchem synstryp is a good alternative but an industrial product so about 25-30 for a large bottle.

What's wrong with using emery cloth?
There's one that comes in rolls.

Good luck, I have just spent the last hour or so removing VHT paint from an alloy rocker cover for the Ribble! ended up in the blasting cabinet then 180 grit wet for about 45 minutes getting the stubborn bits and smoothing out the grit marks. Just given it 2 coats of etch so am just taking a break before laying paint down on the Ribble.
