What’s it worth – cologne 2.8 v6

Hi,

I was very lucky years ago to just happen to buy a 2.8 v6 out a fatally rusty fuel injected Capri that then turned out to be a new recon engine. To say this engine is clean inside is an understatement I mean it’s just mint. I use it in my Falcon for about 3 months before a twit hit the car and then I took out the engine and stored so it’s still just as good as ever.

Been really wanting to put this in my Landrover but just can’t get hold of an adaptor plate so now thinking of selling the engine…very sad (does anyone have the 2.8 to series landrover conversion kit kicking about?)

Question is how much should I be asking for it, I see a bare recon engine is £900 from a specialist engine supplier

Any idea’s or where would be best to advertise it, like Ford sites etc

Cheers

Had that engine with K Jetronic on my TVR S1, they swapped to the the 2.9 with proper fuel injection for the S2,S3.
Didn't seem to be much of a market for used engines, but a minter might appeal to some one doing a resto.
Try pistonheads TVR forum.

cheers

Yeah it's more that it is in such amazing condition that I've been so reluctant to sell it just in case I got a cortina or capri again. Still not sure I should sell it tbh and I have a thing for v6's more than v8's, plus I have the type 9 for it too

Try it on Turbosport
Old Skool Fords
Scottish old school escorts
Highland old Skool fords

Bearing in mind where you are it might be worth ringing Quoyloo Garage on Orkney who are Capri specialists

Mike
P.S might be of interest to a classic power boat owner /restorer

I also have a Cologne V6 from my 1972 Capri, removed the engine and transmission when car rotted, was going to use it in the Locost till I found a rotted Toyota Corolla GTS which provided the running gear for the Locost. Son is trying to find a Capri with a good body, so will save it a little longer.

their good engines and low stressed too, much more power than the bhp figures suggest as its not a high revving engine. I'd have loved one in a cortina

if you come up with a price I'll post it on scimitarweb - later GTEs & GTCs are 2.8 Cologne.
