I've got one of these SIP jobbies:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00603GZVE/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B00603GZVE&linkCode=as2&t ag=pavespir-21&linkId=O5LT6SXMYMGRDYVF

Bought it from Halfords on a weekend, was about £50 and trade card gives 10% off - works really well and can't complain. Mind you, I went from a non-auto helmet to that so difficult to not have been amazed at how much freedom and comfort it gives you!

Wouldn't really hesitate buying a £20 ebay jobbie, as I'm not a pro welder by any means. If you're welding all day long, I'm sure the really expensive ones are worth it.

I've had this one (well, an earlier version) for 7 years and it's still working great

The Parweld range was recommended to me, bought one and very happy with it.

I've got the one that toolstation does, it works perfectly fine. It's probably the same as the £20 Ebay ones though.

+1 for parweld. Mine has adjustable sensitivity and darkness, a boon for getting enough visibility for the low power tricky welds and enough protection for the high power thick stuff.

Personally I wouldn't use anything other than a Speedglas 9002 or the newer 9110.

You might think a cheap mask is exactly the same but if you try a Speedglas they're streets ahead of anything else

Speedglas 9002x mine is 15years old, although I did uprate the filter about 8 years ago. It's a much slimmer mask than most which is very helpful when working in tight spaces.

Cheers
