calling a ford ecoboost engine guru

good afternoon,

as a new winter project, i plan to drop a 1.6 ecoboost engine in my caterham engine bay.... but it's really hard to find some useful informations about this engine . i know the 1.6 sigma looks very similar to ecoboost but i need to make sure the both share the same gearbox pattern (making a custom one would be a pain/ expensive.)
i have also considered using a 2.0 ecoboost as well, so if you have this kind of info i'll take them!

best regards
antonio

info here - worth giving Power Torque a call, looks like they have everything sorted.

They have an eBay clearance store so do have limited direct sales with the public. They have a couple of brand new crate lumps for sale at the minute for under £2k

yep, very tempted but if the OE ford management can work properly in another car it may be cheaper to buy a full donor...

I was speaking to the chaps who now make the Riot at Total Kitcar Live at Brands last November and they've had success with the Ecoboost; not sure which ECU they're now using but they may well be worth a call?

hi beaver34!

you are the man i need!
so 1.6 ecoboost and sigma share the same gearbox pattern right? do you know if the ecoboost's head is much taller than the sigma's head? or maybe you know the height for both of them?

i was first tempted by the 2.0 ecoboost, but i've been told it won't fit Under the caterham bonet because it is taller than 2.0 duratec engine , would you be able to tell me how much taller is the ecoboost?

last one, ford sell a management pack for kit car purpose but only for the 2.0 ecoboost, have you got any idea if the can supply this one for the 1.6? http://fordperformanceracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=22998

merci!

I was putting a 1.6 Ecoboost in a seven but since project got put on hold.

Yes Gearbox/bellhousing is the same as Sigma.

Currently specialist are pretty much the only people who have done an Ecoboost compatible ECU. However MBE are working on one and have been for the last 6months-1 year.

box patterns are the same,

the head uses the same headbolts and cam seals etc.... it does have vct so the solinoids are on the rocker cover area so they i would assume will be the only raised section of the head and its coil on plig which is higher than the simga.

we have a st on site normally but its away for another week, i can photograph the head compared to my sigma engine in mine if needed
