Breather type 9 gearbox

Hi,

My type 9 gearbox starts leaking oil from the propshaft input and the speedo output.
First of all before taking the engine out I need to see if the gearbox breather/ventilations is working.
The problem is, I have no idea where the breather hole should be? Could anybody show me on a picture where to find it?

THANKS!

If you have the original cover plate on your gearbox, it should have a bump / dome pretty much in the middle of it. This should have a small hole in it. This is your breather......

I had exactly the same problem with my type 9. I had enough space to bend a paper clip and feel across the lid. I unblocked the tiny hole at the top of the dome in the centre of the lid and it stopped leaking.

Will check next time I'm at the garage.

Is it this little dome? There should be a little hole in this?

Yep..... Looks like your lid has been modified and a breather pipe fitted....

That´s not mine - just a picture I found on the web.
Then I will check next time.

Found the hole, unfortunately it wasn´t blocked so I have to take the engine out and change sealings.
