Ford Zetec ECU

I have a 2008 Zetec 1600 purchased without the OEM ECU.

Australian State regulations have recently changed requiring me to fit an OEM ECU to get road registered.

Has anyone had experience of purchasing and fitting a Ford ECU?

I believe I would also need the matching ignition key and key barrel in order to get teh PATS system to work

Is there any other parts I would need?

I woudl appreciate any help I could get as this is a whole new area for me

make sure you buy the correct ECU, key and any other parts for your year of engine, the 2008 1600 zetect had VCT on both cams, but proir years only on the exhaust.

Find a copy of the Ford TIS if you can, it will be a big help. Someone on here might be able to point you to an online source.

I have fitted a 1996 1.4 and a 1999 1.7 both with ford ECUs and it isnt too hard once you do your resaerch. lots of help on here too.

Good luck, I had that same engine in a 2008 1600 Focus and it was a good engine. 115 hp i think?

Yours will be a zetec se.

The last of the zetec e engines (black top) where made 2004 in the uk for the ford focus. They finished putting them in the mondeo in 2000.

The zetec name as a trim level lived on.

Gentlemen, thank you for your input, much appreciated. There obviously has been a lot of effort in putting all this information together

Can anyone point me in the direction to get a Ford TIS for my 2008 1600 Zetec SE motor?

All I think I need to get the motor to run is the ECU, ignition lock and keys and the transponder. Am I correct?

If I could get the loom plugs that go into the ECU and transponder would be really helpful as well

Barkalarr - what exactly do you have for sale? My motor is the Zetec SE 1600 2008 with VVT on both inlet and exhaust cams.

Thanks once again for all the input
