Type 9 leak
hi,
ive got a weeping type 9, collect at the bottom of the middle of the box, dry bell housing, dry at the rear where prop goes in, presume it will be the
gasket or seal between the tail ans the main box section?
is it an easy fit, are there guides online to how to rebuild?
finally where to get the gaskets from burton power?

Decent quality instant gasket will do the job but check the leak isn't from the speedo drive, also the leak isn't from under the bolt
heads. there are also reports of cracked tailshaft housing if the engine is solid mounted.

Its reasonably easy if its the tail housing seal but if its the sandwich plate to main housing seal that's a bit more involved. I have photos of
the rebuild I did on my type 9 in my photo archive. Full instructions are in the Sierra Haynes manual if you have an early enough one. I think I may
have a pdf of the gearbox chapter if you haven't. Oh, and you can buy gasket sets on EBay, probably cheaper than Burton Power.

purchased a new seal and gasket set so ill pull it apart and do them all, and give the gaskets a smear of instant gasket to be sure
