Throttle bodies, no injector, dcoe

OK, so doing a little research on throttle bodies for my puma engine.

I have an inlet manifold with twin dcoe inlets at approx 42mm and planning on using the oem in-head injectors.

So, does anyone know of some throttle bodies with no injector ports and can be spaced to 90mm and are around 42-45mm.

So far the closest I can find are the Nissan rb26 ones, also found triumph tt600 but these are 38mm and there are these new -

4 Cylinder DCOE 45mm Throttle Body Kit inc TPS - For Performance and Racing

I considered converting some dcoe carbs aswell if I can find a cheap set (pigs flying past the windows!).

Any others to consider.

Im pretty sure some BMW motorcycle bodies are butterfly only.....

Can't injector ports in a tb be blanked off? then you could use any of the usual suspects.

Yes - sure I've seen it done with chemical metal and or a turned alu plug on GSXR bodies - and these would be around the right size for your application.

I've most certainly blocked off the second butterfly holes on mine with neat JB weld - probably works better than a 'mechanical' plug as putting duck tape on the inside face of the body allows you to fill the hole and the inside face to be smooth to the bore.

Equally easy to plug the ports in the head.

Simple plugs bonded in with a semi-permanent grade of Loctite or sealed with injector O rings

Quite taken with those aussie throttle bodies. Don't seem to have an air bleed screw and drillings for fine balance within each pair but perhaps I'm being fussy. They do look nice and a good price if you know anyone visiting.

A cheap solution would be to use bike carbs. You could easily respace them and fill any superfluous holes.

Me too! They have a nice rising rate throttle quadrant. But at 45mm they are surely too big for a Puma engine.
What peak horsepower are you aiming for OP?

Many thanks for all of the replies, much appreciated.

The aussie ones are also available in 42mm which is the same size as the Jenvey direct to head Zetec SE ones.

42mm ITB Indevidual Throttle Body 4cyl Linkage Trumpets Race Hardware EFI

I currently have Triumph 955i throttle bodies on the engine which are 42mm inlet but the outlet is slightly smaller than the stock puma 1.7 inlet port and not matched (but did not need spacing to get to fit, although you do need two sets being a triple !). I have bunged up the injector ports on this using some tight fitting rubber fuel pipe and then crewed a bolt into it, very tight fit but reversible if I need the injector holes in the future. I have almost finished wiring up the car and will be looking to do a first start over Christmas. So with stock internals and cams, 4-2-1 2.25" exhaust and the Triumph bodies I am expecting the 1.7 Puma engine to make around 150-155hp (very similar set up to Jenko's J15).





I am already thinking of upgrades so, once up and running I would like to install ARP rod bolts, HD valve Springs and a cam (Shawpeed SS4, LMS3, FRP or similar) which with the better matching on the inlet side with 42mm DCOE TB's should make 175-180 HP I hope. I will probably buy a second engine, build it up out of the car and then install.

So, in preparation I have managed to get what looks like a Danst Zetec SE > DCOE inlet manifold and was looking for TB's to go on it.

Alternatively I can use this as a basis for a plenum and go down the Rotrex route (C30-74 seems to be the one to use with this engine).
