Fitting a baffle/windage plate. One gasket or two?
I am changing the sump windage plate on my ZX12R lump. I originally made my own, but it wasn't brilliant (I found two snapped mounting points
when I stripped it today), so I have upgraded to one from AB Performance. I have always suffered an oil leak from an unknown location around the sump,
and that got me thinking.... How would you install the plate, as it is sandwiched between the sump and the block. Would you use two sump gaskets (one
either side), or one gasket and some flexible gasket, or sack off the gaskets and just go with copious amounts of the goo?

I just used a very fine smear of Wurth sump sealant on mine, you do not want any sticky lumps getting into the oil.

Rightly or wrongly here i trust appropriately applied "goo" over any thing else.
So double goo from me.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

I've always used goo for sump work, mainly because that's what the Haynes manual has told me to do. That's on bike and car engines
of various types.
