Steering Short Shaft and UJ Support Bearings

Morning All!

Coming to the end of a rechassis project and i’ve now got to get my head around relocating the steering short shaft.

The original layout used the Sierra column with a shortened Sierra short shaft.

This time round I need to add another shaft and u/j for clearance.

Rally Design do the shaft and u/j BUT I would obviously need to support the shaft.

I’m thinking something like a 2 piece nylon roll bar clamp or pillow bearing??

What have you peeps used in the past?

Advice with pics or links would be good.

Thanks in advance.

When I built my JC Midge I used a spherical rod end (rose joint) on a box pillar with a nut welded to the end for adjustment and a locking nut.

due to my design i couldn't use a rod end both ends of the shaft had something on it. I got a anti roll bar clamp. Splits apart, fits snugly. Not been through IVA but i think its a good solution.
