Motorcycles - what age for classic?

Is there a specific age at which you can get classic insurance on a bike or is it simply a question of having an older bike, say pre'2000 & approaching a specialist insurer

Is there a significant difference in insurance on a "normal" bike compared with a classic?

Any recommended insurers or is it much the same as for kitcars, ie A plan, Flux, Footman James etc?

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Generally its 20 years (Carole Nash) but some insurers will take on bikes at 15 years old and others 25 years old.
Now if your bikes 40+ years old it needs neither MOT or Tax

I have a ‘classic’ 1984 and a ‘vintage’ 1956. Both are insured under standard bike policies as the they much cheaper than classic policies. Each are less than £90. Big difference is they don’t have agreed value however given market valve on each is actually increasing I’m not concerned.

Interested I’ll be insuring mine for the first tim in 10+ years.
Used to be Carol Nash.
^^
I’d be concerned on insuring anything of value without agreed value. Just because market value is rising, I wouldn’t trust any insurer to pay what you think it is....

My 96 Thundercat was classed as a classic, it made no difference to the premium. Mind you, it was only £60 fully comp for the year even with 8k mileage and business use.

You guys are coming out with some very low policy prices - is that cos you're all old gits like me with about 1,000 year no claim? Do we have any youngsters (I mean under 35!) with low no claims who are insured on classic policies - as you may have guessed, I'm asking for a friend!
