T5 gearbox oil

I've a fully rebuilt Tremec (BW) T5 gearbox ready to go into my car.

It seems Dextron 2 ATF is the recommended Oil, I'm just wondering if there is anything better? Its a late 80s design and oil tech has moved on in that time.

Cheers.

I would use MTF-94 --- it was developed for Land-Rover and Rover and used for Honda it solved a a lot of issues Land-Rover were having on Defender and Range Rover 5 speed manual boxes replacing the Dexron 2 theys had used as an interim solution.

Tremec themselves still say Dexron II

APPROVED LUBRICANT.
Most T5 transmission models use Dexron II automatic transmission fluid.
Refer the vehicle owner’s manual or service manual for lubricant specifications.

but the T5 is a bit different from the LT77 / R380 boxes, I've alway seen Dexron II as the recommendation for T5's in cossie's or in TVR's
