Entirely Purple Locost?

The more I work on the car, the more signs I see that this Locost used to be entirely Purple in colour - Chassis and everything!

Anybody have any recollections of seeing a totally purple Locost over the years? I'd love to track down any previous owners and find out history to it.

I know it started life with the standard 1100cc Escort engine and running gear when it was registered in 2002 as there are still signs of it and that's what the log book still says - but would love to fill in some of the blanks in between.

Cheers
Tony

Don't remember a purple one on here.

When I see things (houses for example) painted in bold colours I always ask myself "did the owner get that paint cheap?"

Have to agree, there a house local to us, that is painted a fuchia pink, and looks totally out of place, in a normal street, its almost a landmark!

Thats was probably spelt wrong, or had some grammer, that the "grammer police have to have a moan at

Yeah I totally agree - it does make you wonder what they were thinking!

I was just wondering if anyone had walked past the Locost stand at Stoneleigh for example and had their retina's burned by an out of place looking purple Locost - or seen it at a track day or something?

The guy I bought it from lives in Redditch and used it almost exclusively for trackdays - I'm sure he said he bought it from a chap in Coventry. Might have a quick search on Pistonheads and see if I can find anything.

Cheers but sadly not. I really don't think this car was a professional build

I've found it!!!

Bobthebuilder on here! :-

https://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=169800

Looks like he bought it in 2011 with the knackered 1.1 Escort engine in and he put the CBR motor in 2012(so it's his terrible welding on the engine support brackets ) - then sold it in 2013 on Ebay.

After reading his threads - bit disappointed to find it was only 118Hp when he had it dyno'd and jetted - but interesting to see that he reckons it weighs 450Kg? Guess who will be getting the scales out this weekend lol!

Cheers
Tony

those green seats are a bit of a shocker with the purple body!

each to his own though with the colour, and just think if it wasn't purple you probably wouldn't have been able to find it on here

No, he's the one with the purple Luego.

This car was 'Bobthebuilder''s, he hasn't been on this site since he sold it in 2013 so I'm sure he won't mind me posting up the pictures from his photo archive.

Funnily enough, it wasn't the purple part that led me to one of his threads - I was searching for something else at the time this morning (bike carb jetting I think). It was just a random coincidence - Funny old world innit!

Just found a picture of Dans car , it had a full screen rather than the wind deflectors , pretty sure it wasn’t a Luego chassis but it did use Luego body panels

The strange roll over arrangement isn’t like any other Luego I’ve seen even if he called it a Luego Velocost I’m sure it wasn’t a Luego chassis. Will send him a message and ask
