Old old Ford still so solid
Hi,
This might be a bit boring to some and if your battling rust Ehem sorry... but I still struggle to get my head round the fact that this car predates
WW2! or was just a year after the Hindenburg blew up, just amazing. So far I've done more than 6500 miles over the last 3 years with zero
breakdowns  Next years plan is to do a round Scotland road trip.
People often ask me what its like to own a car like this and they assume it must be unreliable, hard to get parts for & a nightmare to work on but
it's exactly the opposite, these things are just great, However if you do want to buy one, buy one in the very best condition you can afford as
it will save you money and grief in the end.
This year has been a record as I'm still driving it about in December as it's so mild and no salt on the roads.

How is it to drive on the roads with lots of modern cars around - does it keep up or become a bit of a rolling road block?

Well it's realistic top speed is about 55mph after that it feels like your thrashing it. People are generally really good around it and
there's no aggressive behaviour or completive driving from other road users, which I've had with many other classics. I tend not to go on
much country roads but it keeps up just fine and the people who I spoken to are quite impressed at how fast it was. Long hills are a different matter,
it just losses all momentum and the lack of gears doesn't help, fortunately all the hills like that round here are dual carriageway.
Brakes are stunning and very powerful so I've no worries there. Handling round corners or over very uneven roads is quite sketchy, but the
suspension design is the same as the Model T so there's no surprise there. However in strong sidewinds it seems to be possessed by a demon.
I actually get more stressed out by people driving close while taking pictures on their phones!
