Propshaft angles with 04-07 CBR1000 engine?

Hi guys,

For those out there running the 04-07 CBR1000 engines with a reverse box, what sort of front propshaft angles are you running?
I replaced my old CBR900 engine with a 2005 1000 engine but the output flange is midway up the engine due Honda moving the internal gearbox for the 04-07 series (not sure if this is the same scenario with the 2008 model which seems to be a popular engine choice) which makes the angle sit at around 16 degrees and I can’t seem to find a solution in CVs or tripod options.
I can maybe drop the engine another 20mm tops (although the sump is only 60mm from the ground as it is) but I don’t think it will make enough of a difference.

I thought I’d see how others have got around this issue?

Can you lift the prop" centre bearing (assuming 2-piece prop'? That'd reduce front angle at the expence of increasing the rear a bit. Also you say "...CV or tripod...". Does your prop' not use UJs?

I wouldn't lower the engine if thats going to result in it being as low as 40mm!

It has a Quaife reverse box which I can't move much higher so that is the main problem causing the propshaft angles.
I am currently running unijoints at the moment which I was hoping I could replace with CVs to deal with the larger angles but they are all too big to fit on the engine output flange without fouling on surrounding parts.

I removed the reverse box and dummied up a location where a potential centre bearing could sit if I changed to a 2 piece propshaft and went electric reverse and I got these angles down to 4.5 degrees for the front shaft and 4 degrees for the rear. This was with the car unlaiden with driver so given it is a live axle the rear shaft would maybe drop to 3 degrees with me sitting in it.
these angles are on the edge for unijoint operation but are the best I think I could manage.
