Sourcing Throttle Cable for Titan/Cosworth Roller Barrel TBs
Hi,
I lost my throttle cable on a track day at Goodwood last week which was a PITA as I lost lots of track time. I did manage a repair to get a few more
laps before close of play and to get me home. Looks like the throttle stop wasn't adjusted properly and my not very smooth driving technique
stretched and frayed it!
Trouble is I cant seem to find a replacement. Online details seem to suggest the nipple/barrel at the Tb end should be 6mm dia by 7mm width. Mine
appears a couple of mm wider. The original came from eBay and i the supplier doesnt sell them now.
Does anyone have any ideas where I could source this please? I need two because I want to carry a spare as Im off on a long road trip soon!

Looks like it's actually 5.5mm diameter (thank you AI!) and I need 3M length as it's rear engined (Sylva J15).

the universal kits are pretty good.
you cut to length and solder the ends on.

I was just a bit nervous of soldering the barrel because I've seen that if it wicks up the cable it can cause failures where it needs to bend.
Would prefer an already soldered barrel at the TB end.
AI keeps telling me different stories about the barrel size so if anyone knows for sure it would be a good starting point for me!

I have given up buying throttle cables. I make them up using polished stainless inner cables and PTFE lined outer. Choose the correct fitting for one
end, buy solderless nipple for the other.
They are MUCH smoother than premade cables. All parts available from fleabay. The other good thing is a spare inner cable is easy to carry.

The obvious route to work out the barrel size was to measure what I had but I need to drive the car back into the garage so didnt want to leave the
car outside until I sorted the cable. Found a way to do it inside in the end so the good news is I now know I need a 6mm diameter, 10mm width barrel
on the end of it.
I originally sourced a soldered barrel on one end (TB) and added a solderless barrel on the other end.
Now I know the size I can source a replacement. I do like the idea of PTFE lined but not having any luck with my size of barrel

It may seem daft but have you looked at push bike brake cables I had one on my car for 10 years with out a problem and you can carry a spare with you

Thanks for all the help.
I bought a couple from an eBay seller called RingSpann UK with low friction liners and they were really good, can recommend them.
Now installed and throttle stop properly adjusted (hopefully) and spare in side pod just in case!
