Rear Brake set up pics please....

Has anyone got any pics of their rear brake set up including the callipers and especially where the brake lines go as i'm scratching my head as the flexy's seem to be too short as do the brake lines.

My last Indy was done by myself and the ones i have for this car are the ones MK supply with the kit.

Thanks

mhhh

that's strange...

do you also have mounted the suspension already?

It differs allot at the end of the wishbone
if in the middle the height 2inches differs..

when I build my velocity i had the same problem but when i putted on my suspension it was clear that it just the problem was that the wishbone could move further than the lines..

Tks

The suspension is already mounted yes and the flexys seem anout 3" too short????

To be honest i could just get some longer flexy's but then again if MK supplied them then they must be right?!?!?

I took this at the MK factory to see how they did it:

Thats wonderful, looks like (after reading the build manual) that i don't have the brackets at the rear for the flexy's although i can easily make them.

Think it's sorted now!

Thank you!!

Yep, just need to make 2 brackets and get a new 'T' piece cos the one i got has a different thread to the rest of the connectors!

As they say in Manchester 'Sorted'

MK supplied 2lengths of about 3inch solid pipe with the right fittings on the ends for me. Now I've just got to source some brakes so I can fit them!

The gold ring is free if you purchase mrs bob,the only problem there is mrs bob is very very very very expensive.

She is also what the ceptic tanks call high maintainance

So i take it you just want the brackets then

Is that how all MK indy's have their callipers mounted (i.e. upside-down?)
I may be wrong, but I thought I'd read somewhere (probably on this forum) that there would be an issue with bleeding the brakes with the nipples lowermost?
When I did the rear disc conversion on my Tiger Avon, I mounted my callipers with the bleed nipples uppermost.
Mind you, I haven't got fluid in the system yet.

Andy.

Yes we have to tip them up to bleed them!

I've heard that you can swap them left for right,i did have a look at this when fitting mine but you then have issues with the handbrake cable.

also i found banjo joints fitted at the caliper help the angle of the flexy.

Thems very nice brackets Mr Bob!
Production run for the club did you say?
I welded two heavy duty washers in the same place as the previous (factory)photo. These look very neat even though it sounds a bit basic. But I think Donut has a coated chassis if I'm not mistaken and two free donated Proper brackets.
Oh yes I put my calipers the other way up and they are a bit tight on the handbrake cable coming out next to the wishbone outer bush and bolt, but they work fine.
I seem to remember some of the early Indy's being built like that, the old yellow car used for lots of the old literature that martin sold very cheap was nipple up on the calipers.(I think)..
Dean......

Once I've finished a project why do I start another?

Better Andrew, but still not perfect. The 'donor' has the calipers not at one side of the disc, but on the top, so to speak. Just because the bleed nipple is at the highest point, this doesnt translate to the drilling into the cylinder being at the highest point. To get all of the air out, you will probably have to swing the calipers off and hold them horozontally too...

Dont just build it.....make it!
