Diff problems

I have been given what we believe is a 3.38 diff for my R1 build. I was told it was just crown wheel and pinion. Now I have got the parts they are complete in the casing but the input flange will not turn. I have taken the back off and it appears that the large gear wheel (sorry dont know what all the gears are called!) will not turn but the smaller ones in side this will.

Having never taken a diff apart before i'm not sure exactly how bad this is. The original plan was to have the crown wheel and pinion fitted into my current 3.92 diff (if it can be done!) but if this can be fixed with out doing that it would be much easier.

Any body know whats wrong?

Thanks

Ben.

Hi Ben,

See my post about a similar problem:

I had a similar problem, which is why I took the back off initially.

To get it moving I put a large spanner over the end of the input pinion and levered against one of the four prop shaft bolts, that got it moving! Apparently they can "set" if not turned for a while. Could probably do with a clean tho, which is what I'm investigating.
