Start with the simple one...Has the accelerator cable got jammed meaning its not letting the butterflys close right up?

Chech the cable and the return spring. Is the cable old at all? If so, just take it prt if poss and spray the cable with a teflon grease. Did this 3 years ago, and haven't had a similar problem yet. Also check the choke cable if you have one.
Or you've buggered something else, but i doubt it.

seem closed? If you're not sure, wind the throttle stops/idle speed adjusters all the way out and see if the throttle arms come up against the stops. Then you know they're shut.

bent thingy through the carbs? Apparently having your return spring at one end only can bend them.

A new one most likely.

Things like that are precision items and you will never manage to straighten it.

However you should take the neccessary steps (as mentioned by Joel) to stop it happening again if it is the problem.

Defective misab plate on one or more chokes ?

Some have rubber components which have no problem collapsing inwards.
