cycle wing clearance
Could somebody measure the clearance between the wheel/tyre and the cycle wing stay?
i.e. the gap between the vertical solid metal bit of the wing mount metalwork and the side edge of the rim...
sorry, not the best of descriptions!
thanks in advance!!

The distance between the cycle wing bracket, and my tyre is about 15mm (you can just get your index finger between the two)
I dont know if this is ok, as I dont have my SVA certificate as yet. So would also be interested in what others measure....
cheers,

Don't believe there is any SVA requirement providing they clear the tyres & cover the plan form of the wheel, my arches are a lot tighter to
the wheel than those described above, but probably not very representative.![](/images//smilies/wink.gif)

My cycle wing bracket to tyre edge is approx 10mm.
To space the arch to top of tyre i used some 25mm hosepipe. 2 lengths taped to top of tyre, bent the stay on top of this, cleaned then bonded arch to
the metal stay. Leave overnight to set (taking care that it doesnt move - more tape). Next night remove wheel and apply more polyurethane adhesive.

you fit them as tight or as far away as you like but for the sva it has to cover the wheel rim.
if you look at the car from the side and imagine a vertical line from the front of the rim the wings have to go past that line,
allegedly.

Mine have about 10mm clearance from the tyres and 5 0r 6mm rim clerance to stays.I have had no problems apart from it is a bit difficult to remove
the wheel.
