I guess it was inevitable...

Passion is everything... Scolari getting sent off the sideline, that's passion. Erikson took his jacket off.... 'nuf said!

Was there some other sort of sporting occasion on this weekend ?

it was a genuine shame they lost, they played very well really. Rooney was a little unlucky to be sent off, especially as it appears to be the shove that caused it not the stamp

Yeah, and did you see the menacing look on Ronaldos face when he had a few words in Rooneys ear BEFORE the match?
I think this just might hasten Ronaldos desire for a transfer to Real......

Can't see it being a good move, going to a team with Beckham in, he seemed a little irate. Keep Ronaldo where he is for a bit and feel the heat.

At least the scapegoat isn't English this time.

If Rooney knew he would be sent off, he would have done a proper job on the Portugese's b****cks.

England snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? Not this time. Played well for them. Like Austin-Rover/British Leyland the management seem top have lost the plot. OK lads, down to 10 men so play for a penalty shoot out. DON'T DO IT with the bunch of pathetic penalty takers selected for a world cup team. If they learnt by their mistakes (both players and managers) they should by now be just about perfect.

On a lighter note, UP THE SCOTS!!!

Wimbledon is much better watching than footie, though the French gave Brazil a good game. Mind you they all play in the Premier League don't they.

What would happen if L:eague players had to be born in UK, a bit like Yorkshire cricketers of years gone by.

That's covered all three sports in one post. Tune in same time next week for the major sports:-
Power boat racing
Cheese rolling
Tiddley Winks

Cheese rolling is more dangerous than power boat racing, and hilarious to watch, and probably as fast.

Tiddly winks is just cheesy.

Personally I don't give a fig about England losing, and have no interest in footie.
The only good thing is how quiet the roads are when they are on the pitch....

No more quiet roads though now, not until Euro 2008.

Who would you rather get a kicking from?

Rooney or Beckham?

I think the move to Real is a safe one!!

I don't think Ronaldo did anything wrong. He didn't put England out of the World Cup, we did that all by ourselves. It appears Ronaldo had a few choice words for Rooney before the match. Aggressive or just friendly banter between team-mates, we'll never know. Maybe he was trying to wind Rooney up, who cares? This sort of thing happens in the Premiership week in and week out and most players just rise above it. Rooney was understandably frustrated playing all alone up front and eventually vented his anger against another player and that is wrong!

Personally, I think Ronaldo played with great flair and was always a threat for England when he had the ball and made some very skilfull penetrating runs - He played with passion for his country, just as he plays with passion for Man Utd. It would be a great shame to see him hounded out of the premiership and in no way should he be held to blame for Englands poor performance.
