Throttle Cable for R1...

I found a thread last week about throttle cables for R1 carbs... Guess what I can't find it now. Someone mentioned a company that sold throttle cables for custom motrbikes and things that could be cut to length. A Universal Throttle Cable kit or something...

What cables are people using for their throttle linkage? I've heard of people using tandem brake cables from bicycles. What about the outer cable?

Ta for any help...

Pictures always welcome too!!

Chris.

Not sure if it'll have the right ends on it, but try just a normal brake cable from a bike. The outer cable can be easily cut down to suit and a new end fitted if need be. It's what I've used in the past on various cars.

Didn't realise they did it all seperately. That or my local one doesn't yet.

I just used a bicycle cable from Halfords but I had to file down the barrel nipple as it was fractionally too large to fit in the slot.

Hi Chris, Im using a Tandem brake cable. I had the outer already from the MNR one but found that the inner was far too notchy and rough so only needed a new inner but you can easily source a goretex or teflon one complete for about 6 or 7 quid.
You can get a clamp on type stop for pennies so dont worry a bout a crimped or soldered one.

Try www.venhill.co.uk - look for their universal cable kit. They're about a tenner and a million times better than the pushbike stuff, which feels rough and notchy.

I'm using a bicycle cable and it is silky smooth! It's lined with Teflon and needs no lubrication. Cheap as chips.
