Kurt B. & his Kimini are famous!

I haven't seen anything posted about this so here goes. Sorry Kurt if I spilled the beans about this....

Kurt's Kimini has made the cover of Grassroots Motorsports Magazine! GRM is the defacto authority of US enthusiast racing, and I consider it a huge deal to be on the cover! So, CONGRATULATIONS Kurt!!!

I'll scan the cover at work tomorrow and post it, if anyone wants to see the deal.

Well done to KB, I would also like to see that. Not really spilling the beans Steve, Kurt has mentioned it in his website build diary.

Cheers

Since they describe it as 'insane' you presumably managed to scare the journo into a laundry incident, well done that man

I'd seen your avatar and it looks so clean and perfect it's almost a model or Photoshopped image.

Very nice to see it's a real car though - good effort!

I agree Kurt, insane is generally misused in the vernacular.

Outrageous would have been a better choice. as in highly unusual or unconventional; extravagant; remarkable:

I would have used 'extraordinary'.

Is the magazine in the newstands?

They said they send subscribers their issues first, then the newsstands get their share, after a couple days. Subscribers are already receiving them so it's about time they're hitting the racks.

Though I haven't checked the newstand, vanity dictates I must buy a bunch myself...

Buy as many as you can afford. I bought 8 copies when my car made the cover of Kit Car Magazine back in Sept. 99. They were gone within days and I had none! Then my wife presented me with a wall plaque that had the cover and the centerfold pages sealed in acrylic! It hangs in my garage to this day. I don't know if you have a wife that would do that for you, but even if you have to do it yourself, you will not regret it. Especially 10, 20 or even 50 years down the road!

Good point guys. Instead of running around cleaning out bookstore shelves, I just called the magazine and ordered 12 copies. That's enough for everyone who supported me through the project, and have a couple extra to store away.

Someday that'll be all I have to remember the project by...

Am I the only person who thinks you should get a few free copies? It seems to me that they are using your hard work and craft to sell their magazine...Surely you are due a few free issues?

I just got mine on Friday. I knew it was coming, but it was still a nice suprise in the mailbox. All in all I think the article did Kimini justice. Congratulations Kurt!

Thanks guys. People keep asking when it hits the newsstands. I hear it's Oct 10.

And yes, the thought did cross my mind, "Why do I have to pay for these"... but whatever.

Finally got mine (Why is it that the Bay Area's the last to get GRM?). Big props, Kurt! I hadn't appreciated the project scope - and equally important, your patience. Ten years is a hell of a long time to spend on a car. It's too bad that the climate doesn't favor a non-air conditioned vehicle down there.

I saw one of those radical BEtrikes today (T-rex). I can certainly see the allure, it's a very agressive looking and sounding machine, although it's a pity that there's so few racing venues for the things.

Cheers,

Berk
