eBay - Private feedback - Why?

Hi All

I'm watching a Rover 200 on eBay here at present (thinking of trying Endurance Rallying - see here )

The guy's feedback is 97.3% positive but it's all Private - why would anybody do that? Is he trying to hide the content of the few negatives he's got?

Regards

Wyn

Probably, can't think of any other reason would want to hide it.

Ask yourself; what's he got to hide?
Auctions are supposed to be public. I personally think ebay should not allow this. But money talks.

Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Some people who sell stuff like kinky gear or blow up dolls that you may not want a feedback for do this.( no I dont )
Ithink the private thing works both ways. Other people dont know what you have been buying. Like SWMBO

i think a private auction leaves no trace of what you bought, but that is different to someone hiding ALL their feedback. As said, its a stupid idea, dont know why they let you do it...

Hi All

I'm a little reluctant especially as the car is a long way away! He's also 'selling for a friend'!

If he's hiding his buying and selling from his wife I can't fault him there - maybe I should be hiding my bidding from mine!

I'll be careful on this I think!

And the bidder who is bumping up the price also has private feedback!

I emailed (Hotmail address!) him to ask why he was selling it so soon after buying it! No reply!

It's now disappeared off eBay so hopefuly they've pulled it.

I could have been caught by this as it was the kind of car I was looking for.
