V8 sump shortening?

Hi
Very quick question... how much height can i chop out of a rangy sump and still have a decent reserve of oil in there? I guess i can chop around 2" out as i hope my locost wont be operating at extreme lean angles
Thanks
Mike

A P6 sump is much shallower. But get the pick up pipe as well.

If you cut the sump down, then extend it to full length. ie make the shallow end as deep as the deepest part, or you willl not have a good reserve of oil, and the oil will run too hot, etc etc.

There are three different sump pans that I know of the the RV8, all different depths. I think the Rangey is the deepest, then the SD1, then the P6.

EDIT:
I use a full size Rangey sump, and just be careful with Traffic Calming and speed bumps etc etc.
