The ones in my car are from a Scimitar. Very narrow which fits just fine. They also have the runners from the donor and are in black vinyl so they're waterproof!

Just bought a set of Bedford Rascal seats for £20
The fit straight in to the standard width chassis (had to modify the back adjuster slightly (take it off))
They have a all in one head rest like many bucket type seats and look absolutely bang on!
I am going to recover them in black vinyl although the grey vinyl is perfectly acceptable for those on a budget more restrictive than mine.

I've used black vinyl seats from a Fiat 126

Great for that "retro seven" look ( and only 10 quid the pair!)

Cheers

Made ours. Used the escort runners (ground down to fit onto floor lower), then a steel frameword, wooden support panels and foam padding. They look pretty cool, although I dont have a pic handy... will post one later if I remember

For a cheap and easy 'custom' look my first prototype was fitted with strips of timber covered in foam and then covered in soft vinyl. Very simple and gives the panelled look and can be made to an exact fit. The only cost was a roll of vinyl at £20 but was enough to cover the entire car with enough left over to make a hood!
Just an idea for those wanting to keep to the £250 budget! obviously you will still need to steal an engine to keep the price down!!

Brilliant seats!
Any possibility of info on how you made them? Would be great to know.
Where did you get the blue plastic surrounds for the seat belt slots? I've been looking for something like these for if I cut holes in standard seats!

Or a weblink? :-)

Love the gear shift too!

Somewhere, I have some pictures showing the buildup. Basically it was a metal frame (using same steel as for transmission tunnel chassis bits) then steel rod (about 4mm thick) bent to give the shape around the edge. This was panelled in 4mm plywood. Then, Steve chopped up the foam to the right shape and his mum covered it for us. To finish, black plastic was used for the corners and fuel hose to cover the steel wire around the edge... The blue belt guides were vac-formed by Steve where he works. They have 2 bits, front and back, and you just glue them in place. If anyone wants some I can ask if he can do them, and cost...

I'm nowhere near needing them yet but would certainly be interested in a price.

Thanks,

James

try making a fiber glass bucket seat, its not to difficult and fairly cheap. start with a ply wood base and sides in the cockpit then using cardboard make the rough symetrical shape of the seat, cover in paper mache to give smouth finish and required details, let dry(probably about 2weeks!!) and the make a fiber glass mould, gring/sand to smouth finish and then build up to suitable thickness. and cover!! that easy but ive spent about 4days just making one seat!but it fits like a glove! am about to get it covered in leather to the unique look, email me and i can sent photos as a guide.

Bedford Rascal seats, thanks for the tip. I found some Midi seats, £15 for 2. They are slightly wider than I would have wished particularly in the driver's seat with the wider tunnel that side but they will fit some how.

Did you take off the entire reclining mechanism or just the cover when you fitted your Rascal seats?

I considered building my own seats and using expanding foam, from any builders merchants, squirted into a bag while I sat in it to get the exact shape. But if I did it for my shape then the wife couldn't fit in and if I made it to her shape then I would slide all over the place!

So they do, still a bit tight on the drivers side but they are Midi seats which will probably be slightly different from the Rascal seats. Never the less thanks Bob. Just need to re-cover them now!
