Minimum required is 3 points for sva.
Maybe the harnesses are turn buckle type releases instead of the same as your tintop?

The standard 4-point harness upper mounts in the rear top chassis rail are too low to pass SVA.
I have got round this (hopefully!) by obtaining a modified Tiger rollbar with an additional bar welded across it (where the mounts for standard three-points were.) This bar now houses the welded threaded tubes for the top harness mounts.

The problems as I see them are

1, the Tiger supplied 4 point harnesses aren't e marked (so I understand)
2, the mounting points for 4 point harnesses are too low. the SVA restrictions are measured from the seat base.

Photo 11 say's it all. If they are E marked you'll be fine it's the height of the mounting thats the problem.

Why don't they sort this out if they are the manufacturer?

If 4 points is not ok for SVA, this means it is not safe too!!!

Are you not signed up to the main Tiger forum?
There are usually a few sets of 3- point belts that get passed from one member to another for SVA purposes.
They (ahem) seem to fall off soon after though!

my avon passed with 4 point harnesses
and quick release buckle. the only thing i did was to make a very thin seat base as they measure up from the seat base.

Mine failed as the rear mountings were approx 12mm too low. I borrowed 3 point belts to pass then put back on the 4 pointers. Having said that with the bottom squab out of the seat it probably would have been OK. I later changed the seats to GRP from Triton and these were low enough to effectivly raise the rear mount to the 450mm (don't quote me as thats from memory)

Where does the 3 point harness attach at the top? I have just bought a part built Avon and it has 4 point harnesses which are mounted too low at the top.

If you have a genuine tiger avon roll bar than top attach to the roll bar (there is the holes).

I read on one of the forums that there have been issues where the roll-bar is bolted to the box frame and caused SVA failures as the bolts could crush the box section. Is this correct? What are the options?

You could weld crush tubes into the box section.
Mine is an early chassis and my rear shock top mounting brackets are higher up than later versions and sit right under the box section. Therefore there is no room to fit the nut for two of the mounting bolts per side, if they were to protrude through the box section.
To overcome this, I have fitted the nuts inside the box section on these particular bolts, so that the rollbar is clamped to the top face only. (i'm hoping that by leaving the end plugs off, the SVA inspector will be able to see the nuts inside.)
