That was my thoughts, the plate made you not even consider it too be unmarked plod.

When I lived in Vancouver there was a silver pickup that decloaked and started chasing someone over the second narrows bridge. That was really unexpected.

How soon before we see corsa's with 5inch diameter tailpipes and blacked out windows pulling people?

there's an unmarked Mitsubishi Evo VIII police car that patrols the A23 between Brighton and Crawley.

Now if joining the police meant driving around in an Evo VIII everyday I'd sign up tomorrow!

A lot of forces are using Evos and Imprezas as their unmarked cars now. They fit in well around the council estates, and will keep up with most things on the motorway.

I dont know why you are all so annoyed. If you get pulled its your own damn fault. Unmarked car or not.

Keep below 90 on the motorway and you will be fine.

" AJ1 This is a special Police Volvo 850 T-5 used by the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire. When the car is changed, the registration is transferred to the new vehicle. There are two hidden strobe lights behind the front grille. One of its uses is escorting VIPs. "

I was pulled by that Volvo after the open day at Mac#1 a couple of weeks ago- I was on the way home on Snake pass, and it was all my own fault - The only reason I was let off was the fact that they were an Armed Response unit, there for a kidnapping!

A clio sport blasted past me on the M3 a couple of weeks ago, shortly followed by a silver Octavia VRS. About 5 mins later they were both on the hard shoulder with the Skoda flashing his blues.

AJ1 used to belong to a Shiney unmarked Jag Plod car that used to travel across the A169 Whitby/Pickering on a regular basis!
I got goofed by an Scooberoo with private plates and blacked out windows! The only givaway was the lack of dealer stickers!
And the brace of B'sinB sat inside it!

I've seen a big feck off merc belting round the M25 with blues going before.

The funniest was a mate who got pulled on the A50 near me by a battered old Ford Escort dead early in the morning.

Surely any police force which complains about lack of funding (as they all seem to do) could be criticised for purchasing/holding on to an asset which has the value of the number plate AJ1 - not a great use of public funds in my opinion.

Indeed current market value seems to be anything up to £250,000 (maybe even more since AJ is quite common for a real name)
