KAWASAKI ENGINES?
Might be able to get hold of some kawasaki engines so which would be the best to go for?
I know there are ZX9's and ZX121R's, but are there any others which would be a good engine? Ie which are carbed and which are injection,
which need power commanders? What sort of performance from Kawasaki engines? What years are they for carbed and injected? SVA and CAT's What
sort of money for each engine?
Reliability?
Sorry i know nothing about these engines!
Many thanks
Matt

zx12rs respond well to powercommander and would defo need one in a car.
the zzr1100 is worth a look, maybe high milage but no cat needed as long as its before 1995, and work well as a road car as it seems to be a lot
smoother.
this is all i know, cant comment on the 900s

Only downside with a Zx12r is it's weight.

Matt,
which engine you choose really depends on your budget. The engine of choice at the moment appears to be the ZX10R, although it's a relatively
new engine and somewhat unproven in a BEC application (as is the ZX14) but I'm sure they will be fine. You won't be disappointed with any
of the Kawasaki engines from 900cc upwards, regardless of age.
All the injected engines will benefit from having a Power Commander or similar fitted and certainly the ZX10R, ZX12R and ZX14 are all fuel injected.
IIRC, the ZX9R's went from carbed to FI in 1998.
So...... how deep are your pockets

I can vouch for the ZX9r engine on carbs. I am also pretty sure that the zx9r engine did not get fuel injection unless you count the Z1000 version of
the engine. If it did get fuel injection it will not have been untill 2003 at the earliest. I Have a 1999c engine on carbs. The E engine was still on
carbs with a redesigned gearbox until end 2002.
140 bhpish from standard engine, a sump chop, and windage tray in the sump with give you reliable power. I have 2 mates who have had them in cars
also.

cheers all,
Phil, my pockets are pretty empty at the moment so engine price will be around the £1000 mark! Just trying to judge if i can get a better kwaka engine
for that money. Dont really want power commanders as im a real idiot when it comes to computer programmes So looking for a carb unit which would be
better for the SVA!
Something is telling me to go for the R1 but im just testing the water with the other engines.

Yep, I read it. The ZX12R must be the bike engine equivalent of a pinto

no Phil, four zx12r engines are the equivalent weight of a pinto.
