Is it two stroke or four.? If it is two stroke then these motors tend to be very highly strung and need regular rebuilds.

I raced 100 cc Yamahas for years, starting with a tatty old kart I rebuilt, eventually moving up to national competition level in 1999/2000 with new kit

What do you need to know?

its a 2 stroke. Engine has just had a rebuild. simple stuff really. The rear axle was bent but i did manage to heat it and straighten it. The hub was broken in the crash. Are there different sizes available?

Really old Karts (and formula TKM, I think) used 25 or 30 mm solid axels. Not so old karts use 40 mm hollow axles, while current Karts use 50 mm axles.

The axle really does have to be 100 percent straight, other wise the kart will "vibe" will running. Start the kart on the stand and watch for run out on the wheel rims.

Cheers
