Dimension request - Mk1 Toyota MR2
Now that the Locost is "finished" I'm already starting to think about
a middy version. Can anyone tell me the stock distance between the
wheel mounting faces (left rotor to right rotor), on the front and on
the rear of an Mk1 Toyota MR2?
Also, any dimensions that you can give me on the stock uprights would
be appreciated.

I've built a middy based on the MR2 MKI donor. Unfortunately I've modified the dimensions from stock so mine won't help you.
You can visit www.mr2oc.com and get all kinds of great info about the MR2.
I have pre-release plans for my chassis now available and lightweight fiberglass bodywork if you are interested. I'll tell you the price for the
fiberglass off-list as I am not a trader.
You will still need to do a lot of fabrication and fettling even with my plans btw. So it's still fun.

I answered this query where you posted it on LocostUSA but I'll put the same answer here in case anyone else is interested (and to remind people
of the combined power of Google and common sense).

A very quick Google search provides enough info to answer this.
MR2 Mk1 rear track 1440mm
Standard wheel offset 35 to 38 mm
Therefore mounting face to face = track + (offset*2) = 1440 + 70 (or 76) =1510 or 1516
[Edited - I had positive & negative offset crossed over]
Interestingly, I have a 1995 20-valve Corolla drivetrain to go in my middy clubman and it has the same dimensions - Toyota don't change things
if they don't have to Smile For reference, I'm using smaller offset wheels (20mm off an E30 BMW) which gives me a 1480mm track, along with
Gemini (Chevette to you) front suspension uprights which have the same 4x100 pattern as the Corolla/MR2. It's worth remembering too, the Mk1 MR2
drivetrain is basically identical to the equivalent age Corolla, other than the gearbox linkage. There are web pages that show how to modify a
standard C52 Corolla box to have the MR2 style linkage but I'm just using longer cables instead. Suspension uprights are the same as AE8x
Corolla.

Watch out- there were two versions of the MR2 MK1.
The early one, MK1a, and the later, slightly improved (and heavier) MK1b. There might be a slight difference in dimensions between the two, so make
sure you know what you're getting first.
