Sierra 2.0 DOHC

Seen a gearbox for one of these advertised, will it def be a type 9 or is there a chance it will be another type of box.

Thanks

Ian

There is a good chance the DOHC will be mated to an MT75, you really need to have a look to ID it.

The type 9 has a different gate pattern to the MT75. One has reverse below 5th and the other has reverse to the left of 1st. Can't help you with which one is which though!

I'm using the dohc and it's def. the MT75

The MT75 is a Alu-casting
The T9 has a iron housing. (alu clutch-housing is possible)

Look in my photo-archive for picture of gear-box

Just to throw a spanner in the works, I was talking to a guy who said he pulled a Type 9 out of a DOHC.

However I've just pulled an MT75 out of one and every one else seems to have one too.

MT75 also has the 'Lift' for reverse mechanism - the Type 9 is a 'Push down for reverse'

It's slightly confused by Ford using up parts by mixing and matching until all the type 9s had gone.

Working in a Ford dealers in the late eighties/early nineties, we once sold, in the same week two identical looking Sierra 2.0 GLs, one was a pinto with a type nine and the other a DOHC on a MT75. It was the same for the 1.6's, some were pinto, some CVH in no particular order.

I've even seen a 4 door RS2000 (mk2) which I would have put my house on not existing!

Cheers

Chris

I had a friend in the sixties who worked in a ford dealers and they took delivery of a 4 door Escort for a customer and did the delivery check on it and prepared it for him. Customer comes in and he is delighted with his brand spanking new car, goes out to the forecourt gets in it and comes back five minutes later asking why he has a three door?

It had two doors on the drivers side and one on the passenger side!!!
