Filter Socks or remote filter ?
Since I am going to fit an airbox around my throttle bodies I was thinking to put
filter socks over my trumpets. ( the pipercross sausage filter has to go since I do not have enough space ).
This means I only have to fit an intake hose to the airbox instead of an intake hose plus remote filter.
What do you think of the use of filter socks :

I'd go remote filter every time. The socks aren't as good since the amount of air they flow can be a bit low.

i would fit a remote filter to the end of the pipe.
With your setup the air box could fill with debis around the socks, making it necessary to continually clean the box.
Of course I could be wrong, but its what i'd do!

hi i dont know if it will help you but if you look in my photos under zx9r carbs you will see how i did mine and i must say i have had no problems at
all how they are

Thanks for the tips. I will fit a remote filter as big as possible and get as much fresh air as possible. did not think about the box getting dirty
all the time etc.will probably use this one :
connect a hose to it and at the end a funnel like this

Thank you , i had two holes in my bonnet from when i had su carbs fitted so when i went to bike carbs i made the air box to suit the holes + added
one in the middle

It has been like this for a year now and i have not had any problems+ no muck in the box

remote and get some nice cool air can release a few more bhp as its denser so can add a bit more fuel in.
It will also mean that the sensors are reading the correct info.

after I finish the airbox the ecu will have to be remapped on the dyno. I use Throttle pos.sensor and no AFM / MAP so everytime I change something
like air fuel I have to remap.
the temp.sensor is now positioned between the trumpets as so you can see.
this sensor will be put in the airbox to get the right data indeed Agriv8

spent yesterday afternoon on the design af the airbox. will bring it to the welders tomorrow. if anyone is interested I can perhaps let them make
two. guess it will cost around 100 euro or so. I know not cheap bit more locost than buying one.

I found the socks on my Tiger restricted the air flow and there was a noticebale performance difference.
That said does anyone know if the small single unit K&N style filters are the same? I'm just switching to bike carbs and was thinking about
having a single small filter on each carb. I thought it would look cool but not sure if it would restrict the air flow or not?
